Here’s what happens at the end of Buddy (2026)—Heavy spoilers ahead:
Final Moments & Escape
- Freddy narrowly escapes Buddy’s twisted TV world. - During their final confrontation, Strappy (the longtime friend and magical backpack) trips Buddy, causing the unicorn to be impaled on a mailbox. This kills Buddy. - Just before dying, Buddy addresses Freddy with his final word: “Bitch.”
- Freddy then makes her way to a creepy room filled with televisions—each one showing a different real-world home where a child watches Buddy’s show.
After the Breakthrough
- Freddy steps through one of the screens, expecting to return to her own family. Instead, she appears in the living room of a random (Spanish-speaking) family. Everything magical or sentient from Buddy’s world—like Strappy and Mr. Mailbox—suddenly become ordinary, lifeless objects.
What’s Left Behind & What’s Unresolved
- Freddy’s mother, Grace, is confirmed dead (or at least sacrificed) after venturing into the well in an attempt to rescue Freddy—and never returns. - Several other children are killed during Buddy’s rampage. - Strappy and Mr. Mailbox escape along with Freddy, but both lose their magical life once outside the TV world—they’re reduced to normal objects. - A chained yellow unicorn is shown, implying that Buddy’s realm—or versions of it—still persists and that the cycle isn’t fully broken.
Overall Take
Freddy’s escape is bittersweet. She’s free, but at a tremendous cost: family is lost, magical allies are dead or stripped of their magic, and the malign world behind It’s Buddy! is far from defeated. The ending leaves lingering dread, suggesting that Freddy has survived the worst—but many questions remain unanswered, and Buddy’s system may still be actively preying on new victims.
