Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson star in Brothers, a comedy series in which they play fictionalized versions of themselves whose long friendship is thrown into chaos when a shocking possibility emerges: they might actually be biological brothers.
After Woody’s daughter’s engagement falls apart, he brings his family to Matthew’s ranch in Austin, Texas for a healing stay. What begins as a retreat soon spirals when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac (Holland Taylor), inadvertently reveals a decades-old family secret that suggests Woody and Matthew could share the same father.
Woody becomes obsessed with proving the possibility—they investigate, dig into genealogies, and raise chaos around the ranch—while Matthew juggles the fallout with his own ambitions, including a flirtation with running for Governor of Texas.
In the season finale, the two men finally arrange for a DNA test that could settle the question once and for all—only to decide that it no longer matters. While the biological truth remains unresolved, the real revelation is emotional: after decades of friendship, Woody and Matthew already are brothers in every meaningful way.
