What Shardblades Are

2. Status and political power – Owning a Shardblade is more than just utility—it’s a status symbol. Highprinces and nobles who hold Blades are seen as stronger, more legitimate, and thus desirable for alliances and ruler legitimacy.

3. Economic value – Shardblades are incredibly rare and precious. They can be traded, inherited, stolen. Their scarcity and power combine to make them something people would risk a lot to have.

4. Mythic / religious weight – Much of Roshar’s history, war, culture, and religion is tied to Knights Radiant who wielded Shardblades. Possessing one connects you to that mythic past—political as well as metaphysical influence.
