In the opening of Dune: Part Two, the dead body Paul is carrying is Jamis — a Fremen warrior Paul killed in knife combat during the events of Dune: Part One.

Here’s what’s going on:

  • The film begins shortly after that duel, with Paul, Lady Jessica, and some Fremen traveling through the desert. They have Jamis's corpse with them as a sign of Paul’s acceptance by certain Fremen—and as proof of his having passed their test.
  • He grips one of the handles of the body-bag carrying Jamis while on the move.

So the body being carried is Jamis, and it’s there because killing Jamis was part of Paul’s initiation into the Fremen.
