Prophets like Isaiah and Jeremiah address exile as a consequence of Israel's unfaithfulness to God but also as a period with hope for restoration. They call the people to repentance and faithfulness, warning that exile results from breaking the covenant. At the same time, they speak of God's mercy and promise a future return from exile, renewal, and restoration. Isaiah, for example, includes messages of comfort and a coming messianic hope that will bring redemption. Jeremiah similarly warns of Babylonian exile but also foretells eventual restoration and a new covenant. Thus, exile is both judgment and a stage in God's plan for renewal.
