Anora is the film’s protagonist: a young sex worker living in Brooklyn. She meets the son of an oligarch and, in a quick, impulsive decision that gives her a Cinderella‑style break, marries him. After the wedding becomes known back in Russia, his parents move to have the marriage annulled.
