Tony Kiritsis, angry over a failed land deal and what he believes is a scam by Hall and his associates, storms into Meridian Mortgage. He wires a sawed-off shotgun to Hall—if Kiritsis gets shot or loses control, Hall will die.
Kiritsis demands Fred Heckman, a beloved local radio newsman, be brought in—not as a negotiator, but to conduct a live interview on Heckman’s popular WIBC show. He views Heckman as someone the public trusts, and wants to tell his side of the story to the city.
Heckman is thrust into a crisis he never signed up for: he moves from reluctant observer to an active participant in the hostage standoff. As he navigates newsroom politics, personal ambitions (including a major job offer), and mounting pressure from law enforcement and the public, he must decide how far he's willing to compromise journalistic ethics to help save a life.
The story is spread out over eight episodes. The first two establish the conflict—Kiritsis’s takeover and Heckman’s uneasy involvement.
